The Sin of Self Pity

If we allow the luxury of self pity to take over our life at any moment we are cut off from GOD. The moment we begin to realize that GOD’s riches are available to us if we ask for them our lives begin to change for the better. I have read and heard that GOD will give us all we want if we ask for it in the name of his son Jesus Christ. There are many things I have asked for and not gotten and the usual explanation of this is that it was not GOD’s will for me to have it. So what is the secret password or the perfect way to ask in order to receive? The “Quote” that comes to mind is “When we surrender to GOD the journey begins”. If we get into the habit of become grateful for what we do have we are in a better state of mind and open to suggestion from GOD through other people. The end result is we begin to ask for the things that will help us grow towards GOD’s purpose for our life and not simply for the things that we think will make us happy.

Self Pity is our default emotion and is a way of building a wall around us that can feel like a safe place with familiar surroundings. However it will cut us off from GOD and keep us stagnant and stale. The act of wallowing around in self pity is the same as trying to pick up dog poop by the clean end. That thought always produces an image for me that gets rid of the self pity.

Remember: Finding GOD’s will for you is the greatest discovery,                                                              doing GOD’s will is your greatest achievement!

Listen to GOD

The beginning of each day is an opportunity to listen to GOD our Father. The choice is not always that clear as to who it is in our mind that is speaking. Is it our conscience or is it a reflection of a prayer.  Sometimes the voice we listen to may sound logical but is it the right choice to make. This quote comes to mind “We cannot do what GOD does and GOD will not do what we can do for ourselves”. We cannot save or sanctify ourselves GOD does that. We cannot expect GOD to gives us good habits or moral character we have to that part ourselves. The initial steps of building good habits or moral character goes against all our common sense. When the life we have built so far is based on working hard to achieve a certain goal such as a having the big house and nice car, we can end up miserable. If our aim to solely to comfort ourselves, we will never fulfill that goal. The only one who can fulfill us is the Holy Spirit that is already within us. If we begin the day by inviting GOD our Father to join us for that day we can begin to feel fulfilled. Material success is a good thing but it can’t be our only thing. Whose voice do we really need to listen for?

Remember; If GOD be your partner make your plans large!

Moral Inspiration

Our daily life is guided by a set of principles that are developed from a very young age. If the experiences we have are good, our outlook generally is good. But on the other hand if our experiences are bad it can have a negative effect on our outlook. The principles we use to guide us are not always healthy ones. They can evolve into something that is completely different than the original intention. The process of growing up emotionally can happen at any time and is usually the result of a traumatic experience. These moments can produce some of the greatest Moral Inspirations that change our principles and give us a vision. The changes in attitude are usually dramatic, as if the person involved had experienced an emotional transplant. When we experience a Moral Inspiration / vision it gives us moral incentive to change course and grow emotionally or spiritually.

Remember, we are not bothered by things, it is the view we have of them that bothers us!

Reckless Abandon

We can begin the day by guiding our thoughts or by going through the motions without much thought. If we simply go through the motions our feelings can take over. Feelings that are left to control themselves can often times lead us the wrong way. To guide our thoughts takes some action, for example reading a daily Proverb can help with discipline. Reading a Psalm a day can help grow our Spiritual Self. To be recklessly abandoned to GOD means to me to be willing to live in the mystery of what the day will bring if I prepare the way by guiding my thoughts.

The day to day things of getting up, having breakfast, and continuing the day are not mysteries themselves. I’m referring to the interactions with others you meet throughout your day.               I believe that GOD our Father uses others to reach us. When we are open to faithful interactions with others the process we began that morning will come to mind. We have prepared the soil for a seed of greater spiritual knowledge to planted.

Remember; Choice not Chance determines our Destiny!
